LPSK To Have An Office Soon

Wednesday, 20 August, 2008 | 19:13 WIB
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:State Secretariat Minister,
Hatta Rajasa, said the Witness and Victim Protection
Foundation (LPS) will soon be provided with facilities and
infrastructure to start operations. “We are currently going
through the administrative process,” Hatta said at the State
Palace yesterday. Hatta admits that the institution’s
performance depends on the availability of facilities.
Currently, the minister is considering whether to rent or
purchase a building for the institution.
The LPSK members were appointed by the DPR (House of
Representatives) last July. On August 8, seven members
were appointed through a presidential decree. However,
besides not having an office, these members are not yet
officially appointed by the President, although they have
already been receiving reports from witnesses and victims.
When asked when the President will open the new
foundation, Hatta said they are still trying to find the date.
"The president is very busy," he said.
